Scope of electronic media??
I would like to know whether you are pursuing a 5 year integrated MSc or a 2 year MSc degree?
However, in either case, the scope is going to be almost similar and comparable to the scope of an Electonic Media PG degree from any other institute. Also, Anna University is not a bad university at all. So you don't suffer any disadvantage because of the place where you study.
If you are a good student who has taken care of his grades or who has excelled in a particular skill or have carved a niche for yourself .eg. have your own blog or youtube channel with great content and following, you can and will get a job. What kind of a Job would entirely depend on your skills, interest and the requirement of your employer.
The positions a person working in electronic media usually holds are - Field Reporter, Writer, Editor, Research Analyst, Field and In-house Correspondent, News/Program Anchor, Presenter, News Analyst, Public Relations Officer, Cinema Projectionist, Media Marketing Executive, Content Writer, Audiovisual Production Specialist, Advertising Executive etc. (Courtesy: BestIndiaEdu.com)
However, with the advent of Digital media, the scope of electronic media has shrunk. A lot of conventional news channels are struggling to make money, while a lot other are cutting staff and making do with lot less journalist and staff members than in earlier days.
Therefore, to stand out from the crowd is extremely important. And yes, while specialisation in one skill is important, knowing just one skill won't be enough. In these times of integrated newsrooms, you have to be amulti-tasker, a one man army. But while the situation look strained in the conventional Electronic media, new job opportunities have been opened up with the launch of news-websites like Scroll, The Wire, The NewsMinute, etc
I wish you all the very best.
