Scored low in cat 2017. I want to retake this year. I will be not doing any job for some reason!

The best thing to do is scoring an excellent percentile which will fetch you calls from premier B Schools. You should indulge in some extra work only if that does not affect your performance in any way.

You can always convince an interviewer for your reason of taking a gap year. It's just a matter of words.

You can work with some NGOs or Social Enterprises. Also you can pursue certification courses like Google Adwords etc to build your profile in the duration.

if you are planning to give retake this year so work hard for it , and if possible so try to indulge yourself in other work also beacuse it will add in your resume and now a days interviewrs ask what else you did so for this try to do another thing as well it can be any course related to your area of interest and it can be any part time job as well so do anything whatever you can do .

It would be better if you could take up some part time job as it would help you to gain experience as well as help in your interview.
