Admission to B.Tech programmes are done through admission test mostly. Only a few colleges offer admission on the basis of intermediate score. JEE Main is one of the most important Entrance examinations for admission to B.Tech courses. Almost all the engineering colleges of India accept Jee Main.
There is no percentage barrier to be eligible for Jee Main. The basic eligibility critdtia is that the candidate must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics as compulsory subjects [along with one of Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical/Vocational] from a recognized board. For admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs, CFTIs, a general and OBC candidate need to have at least 75% marks in the qualifying examination or be in top 20 percentile of the respective board. And it is 65% for students belonging to SC, ST or Pwd categories. For this year, the 75% marks or top 20 percentile criteria has been withdrawn. http://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-eligibility-criteria
There are also state level entrance exams such as WBJEE, UPSEE, COMEDK, KCET, MHT CET, GUJCET etc are some Engineering entrance exams which offer admission to B.TECH. Some University conduct their own Entrance examinations such as SRMJEE, VITEEE, BITSAT, AEEE etc for admission to B.Tech programs in these colleges.
