Depends upon in which college you want to take admission. For IITs/NITs/IIITs/GFTIs you must have score above 75% or you must be in the top 20 percentile of your board. For example in Bihar board, students above 60-65% are eligible but in CBSE you must have at least above 75% because the top 20 percentile in CBSE is much higher.

For state Engineering colleges there are different rules for different states. But for them anything above 60% is considered safe.

Still its better to go gor at least 75% as it would be safer for future such as interviews.

If you want to pursue B.E. or B.Tech through JEE Mains then you need to have a minimum percentage of 75% if you are a general category student.If your are SC then it's 65% or you need to be in top 20 percentile of the board score. For other competitive exam the percentage is different.
