sir I belonged to sc category but I scored more than cutt of 56 percentile can I get seat in nit
Dear Aspirant
As you have not mentioned your stream and your state. I am unable to give you a proper answer but according to the jee main percentile your CRL rank is around 450120 - 506000. and your category rank is around 26111. There is very less chance to get top nits, iit's but can try yourself and find suitable college with your own preferences (government or private) by using college predictor tool https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-college-predictor?icn=QnA&ici=qna_answer
Thank you
Hi
You have just mentioned that you have got more than 56 percentile but how much more?
What is your percentile in jee main?
Actually, just qualifying cutoff of JEE main doesn't mean that you will get a seat in NIT
Qualifying JEE main only makes you eligible for JEE advanced examination
For example,
In 2020, qualifying cutoff for sc category was 50.1760245 and jee main 2021 expected qualifying cut off percentile is 50-55 percentile.
You can check the same at our page the link is provided below
https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-cutoff
If you want to get a seat in NIT then being from SC category you need to get at least around 86 percentile
For example,
When we go through previous year trend then ,
Under other state quota , closing rank for some of the nits for which closing rank goes low are listed below along with their closing rank in the 6th round of josaa counselling 2020 for sc category :
-
National Institute of Technology, Andhra Pradesh, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering :- 8450 sc rank
-
National Institute of Technology, Instrumentation Engineering :- 8641 sc rank
-
National Institute of Technology Agartala, Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering :- 9207 sc rank
You can check the same at
https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx
From above, it is clear that to be on the safer side need at least a rank of around 8000 to 9000 sc rank to get into an NIT under other state quota. And to get a rank in this range, you need at atleast around 86 percentile as per our rank predictor at

Hi Aspirant,
No chances are there with cutoff around 56 percentile to get admission in NIT.The cutoff of the NITs remain quite high around 95 percentile and above even for the SC category of students. So chances are really less. You can try some private colleges with this percentile in civil or in mechanical.
Hope it helps!
Hi,
It is quite difficult to answer your question on the basis of just your category as without your percentile it is difficult to determine your common rank list rank as well as it is not possible to determine your category rank.
However, here is the link for round 6 of JoSAA counselling for NITs in the year 2020: https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx
You can refer to this link to get an idea about cut off ranks. Also, you can use the rank predictor tool to get your rank:
I hope this helped you.
