GATE is a National level Common Entrance test to get admission in various Engineering Colleges in india to pursue Mtech. The Basic eligibility criteria is one must have passed Btech degree from a recognised Board of University in 4 years. You are not eligible to apply for exam as you didn't complete the Btech degree in 4 years.

There is no issue and only problem will be some iit and some psu where 65 percent is mandatory.no issue for 4 years or 5 years
