First of all there are vacant seat every year, so it is expected like previous years there will be vacant seat this year too and special round.

You can apply for special round in the following way.

  1. After the completion of 7 th round and Institute reporting, CSAB(Central seat allocation board) will publish a list of vacant seat in each program of NITs, IIITs, GFTIs.
  2. Then Payment of CSAB Special Round Participation Fee (amount for an individual candidate will be displayed automatically. It may be Rs 46,000 or Rs 21,000 or Rs 1,000 as the case may be).
  3. After that choice filling and seat locking .

Other important rules to be kept in mind.

  • In case of candidates, who have been allotted a seat in JoSAA round and have reported at the allotted Institute:-
    • if allotted a seat in the Special Round, their earlier allotted seat NIT + System Institute will be forfeited.
    • If not allotted a seat in Special Round, their earlier allotted seat will be safe.
  • Once seat is allotted, there will be NO REFUND of Fee in any case
  • If a candidate has joined an Institute in NIT + System after allotment from JoSAA, and has participated in the Special Round for upgradation, AND no seat is allotted in the Special Round, there will be NO REFUND of Fee.
