JIPMER MBBS is an online mode as a Computer Based Test (CBT). Negative marking has been introduced in JIPMER MBBS, for the first time. The entrance exam of comprises 200 single-best-response type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), with four choices in each question. JIPMER Puducherry prepares the syllabus for the entrance based on the curriculum followed by various State Higher Secondary Boards and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for Classes 11 and 12 . The type of questions asked include Multiple choice, Assertion-Reason based. The number of questions per section is as: Physics – 60, Chemistry – 60, Biology (Botany + Zoology) – 60, English Comprehension – 10, Logical and Quantitative Reasoning – 10. The marking scheme of the exam is : + 4 marks for every correct answer, -1 marks for each incorrect answer, 0 Marks for unattempted questions or those remarked for review
