Yes offcourse , you can drop for a year after class 12th.
But remember one thing you must prepare hard, so that you can get some good college by qualifying some of the good exams of India.
Then only a year drop is worthfull

Yes you can. If you'll take year drop you'll concentrate fully on JEE Mains and that will help you to gain more marks in the same. Sometimes one is not able to manage between board exams and JEE. This won't be the case with you. You can get good NITs if you do so.
Considering another option if you don't you might regret throughout your college life for taking drop, in case you fail to get good college.
