Depending on the position, candidates must fulfill certain requirements in order to sit for the SSC tests.  For lower-level positions, candidates usually need to have completed at least the 12th grade; for higher-level positions, such as SSC CGL, they need to have a graduation degree.  Although there are age relaxations for protected categories, the typical age limit is between 18 and 27.  Tier 1 (Preliminary) comprises General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension; Tier 2 (Mains) focuses on Quantitative Abilities and English Language; and occasionally Tier 3 (Skill Test/Interview) rounds up the three sections of the test.  The official SSC website and books such as Kiran's SSC Solved Papers and Arihant's SSC Previous Year Papers offer practice questions and previous year's papers.
