I prefer engineering stream more! I'm intersested in courses like biotechnology too..

Your scope is determined by you mostly.
You need to be all eyes and ears for information. In case you want to join an industry. Make sure that you know your stuff well.
India has yet to see the Biotech Bang, but the things have started to stir up already.
A doctor relies on the genomic information that she/he would gain from specialized bio-technologists (because different drugs work differently on different people).
So conclusion is there is a scope for biotechnology.
As you are just starting out I would suggest you to try out different things as you may find your passion for something else.
I would also tell you to go for higher studies if you chose biotechnology as higher studies have higher value.
