Dear Krishna, IIST is a Deemed University. It means that IIST is an autonomous Institute that comes under Department of Space, Government of India. IIST was set up by ISRO under Department of Space, Government of India. This is their University for Study and Research. In other words, ISRO set up IIST for Academic and research programmes.
