On commission, candidates get the rank of Lieutenant in Indian Army. After completion of two years of service, candidates are promoted to the rank of Captain. On completion of 6 years, they are promoted to Major. After 13 years of service, candidates get the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Candidates get the rank of Colonel(Selection) on selection. After 26 years, candidates get the rank of Colonel (Time Scale). The rank of Brigadier, Major General, Lieutenant General and General is given on selection.

Yes definitely after 2 years of service you will be promoted to the next ring the nutrient is the ring when you just join the Indian army but soon after 2 years you'd be promoted to next higher rank and your promotion will continue but initially it will be easier but in the later stages it will be more competitive and difficult.
