The greatest fools in practice are sometimes the wisest men in theory, for have all the advantage of their own experience and self reflection to prompt them; and they can give the best advice themselves bound to follow it in their own instance.

It's very true that some of the greatest fools considered by the society eventually turned out to be the Greatest Geniuses of the Human Civilization. Some of the greatest minds like Albert Einstein, and Issac Newton were also considered as slow thinkers by the society, but they eventually shaped the new world.

They mostly had an out of the box imagination which allowed them to create a different view point about the common phenomenon and they developed a unique way of addressing it.
