The skeletal structure found in the outer ear and the tip of the nose are example of cartilages. They provide support and strength to the body part alongwith necessary elasticity. This makes the tip of the nose less likely to get broken or injured on receiving impact when compared to a bone, as the cartilage absorbs the impact. Likewise, in the outer ear, it helps to keep it's structure elastic and in shape for perfect hearing.
