It is not that IITians are not good salary or there are no jobs. Sometimes, there is economic slowdown and it also depends the field in which one is working. What is the state of that particular sector at the time when you pass out of IIT.
Studying from IIT will definitely give you an edge over the others and if there is slump in the market then may be initially there might be hiccup in getting a job, but later or sooner I am sure you will be able to get a good job.
