Hello!!

The maximum no of electrons in each shell or orbit goes in the order 2,8,18,32....

Since the atomic number of Nitrogen(N) is 7,the first shell will occupy 2 electrons and the remaining 5 electrons will be accomodated in the 2nd shell.

So,number of valance electrons of Nitrogen is 5.
