Yes, You can appear for the National MeanscumMerit Scholarship Scheme (NMMS) exam in Class 9, but there is an important condition.
How NMMS works

Students write the NMMS exam when they are in Class 8.

If they qualify, they start receiving the scholarship from Class 9 to Class 12.
