Dear Abdul, EWS reservation is for Economically weaker sections. This is for General Category candidates whose annual family income from all sources is less than 8 lakhs per annum. This is for candidates who do not fall under SC/ST/OBC. If you look at the reservation system, it is divided into SC, ST, OBC and Gemeral Category. All these Categiories except General Category has reservation. And to bring balance to the reservation system and economical balance it has been decided that 10% reservation be granted to General Category students whose annual income is lesser than 8 lakhs per annum. How is it beneficial? It is a boon for those candidates who cannot afford education due to their economic status.
