Merits is great technical knowledge, good statistics skills, better analysis of data, good knowhow of teamwprk an d leadership and multi-tasking.
Demeeits are lack of communication skills and lack of concrete fundamental applications of core subjects in corporate sector.
Its always advised to go for Btech from top 50 institute to minimize all demerits.

the merits of doing btech are as its quite mainstream the chances for acceptance are quite high along with scope while the demerits are as being too much mainstream now a days few exams do not give preference to btech students like CAT.
