What are some failure stories about gate exam?#engineering

My brother have been very passionated for gate & hence PSUs right from the starting his engineering. He didn't get much failure in gate exam but everytime it was interview which disappointed me & hence exam too. This is wat happened in last 3 years !! 2016 passed out.

BARC - not sleected



IIT Kanpur - selected (joined)

BPCL- not selected



HPCL- not selected



ONGC - not selected



IOCL- not sleected



NLC - not selected



BHEL,NTPC,SAIL,OIL - didn't get the interview call even.



BEML - selected (but didnt join)



IIT Kanpur : dropped M.tech program



Litterely cried at this point of time..



MRPL(ONGC) - Selected ( this time joined)







AIR 209 in GATE2018 (Marks 83.32/100)



BPCL- not selected



HPCL -not slelected



IOCL - not selected



NTPC - selected in online test but didn't go for interview ( btw if I would have been gone for interview probably it could be like. ..again not selected).



BHEL,SAIL - didn't get the call even
