Thanks for asking this question. To prepare for IAS, you need to start with the basics.
- Get a copy of full and detailed syllabus first of all. Go through the complete syllabus.
- Next, read NCERTs and make notes from NCERTs and newspapers.
- Once you have gotten hold of these, start preparing from coaching material. If you have joined a coaching centre, they will provide you with material now. If not, you can find coaching material in bookshops at Karol Bagh in Delhi. If you are not from Delhi, try to find a shop where you can get this material or use Internet.
- Remember, if you have joined a coaching it's fine but even if you haven't and plan on preparing on your own, it's a good thing. Just bring discipline to you rstudies.
- After these books are done and you want to quesnch your intellectual thirst more, you can try the following books:
1. For Politics, go for M Laxmikant
2. To imporve your English, read CDS Pathfinder Book and Word Power Made Easy by Norman Lewis
3. For International events and analytical news of world: Wall Street Journal, Pratiyogita Darpan, The Hindu and The Indian Express
4. For Mathematics, try out the CDS pathfinder book and R.S Aggarwal
