What are the courses in civil engineering
Civil engineering is one of the oldest engineering disciplines in the world. Civil engineering is an engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction and maintenance of physical and naturally built environment. There are number of sub disciplines within the broad field of civil engineering.
1. Surveying:
Surveying is the first step in field implementation.
It is the process in which surveyor measures dimensions of land.
Surveying equipments are used to measures the area, shape of land.
This subject deals with the dimensions of land and plotting of co ordinates for a building etc.
2. Geo technical engineering:
This branch deals with the strength of soil and rocks.
With the knowledge of bearing capacity and soil strength, we can economically design foundation length, retwining walls and other structures.
3.Engineering geology:
This deals with the different kinds of rocks found in soil and their properties.
4.strength of materials:
This deals with the strength of the Foundation, and the pillar strength.
It is the study of a subject which deals with the behavior of solid objects subjected to stress and strain.
5.Structural analysis:
This deals with the analysis of fixed beams, suspension bridges etc.
Evaluation of highest load bearing point, bending moment.
6. Environmental engineering:
It is the contemporary term for sanitary engineering.
It deals with the treatment of water, water purification, sewage construction.
7.Transportation Engineering:
This subject deals with different modes of transportation, history of road development, traffic engineering.
8.Building materials and construction particles:
Classification of materials, stones and their manufacturing process.
This also deals with the testing of construction materials like bricks, cement, wood etc.
9.Fluid mechanics:
This subject deals with the different types of fluid flows.
Fluid and continuum, equation of motion along a stream line, laminar flow, turbulent flow.
10.Design of steel structure:
This deals with the general considerations related to structure of steel.
Different types of simple connections-riveted, bolted, pinned connections.
11.Construction technology& management:
This subject deals with the management of construction technology.
Engineering economics is dealt in this subject.
12.Geo informatics:
This collects geographic data from satellites, physics of remote sensing, sensing of underground water, minerals etc.
In addition to these, there will be labs for practical knowledge.Hope this information will help you.
There are many course subjects like -
Civil Engineering Materials., Construction Practices, Engineering Geology , Hydraulics, Soil Mechanism, Construction Management , Elements of Surveying , Environmental Engineering , Transportation Engineering Lab .....
