Economically Weaker Section or EWS is only the reservation for general category people. A person whose family has a gross annual income below Rs 8 lakhs, and the family should not own or possess agricultural land of size 5 acres or above. And also the person's family should not own or possess a residential flat of area 1000 sq.feet or more and should not own or possess a residential plot of area 100 sq.yards or more in notified municipalities and should not own or possess a residential plot of area 200 sq.yards or more in areas other than in notified municipalities can get the EWS reservation.

Current criteria for getting EWS reservation-
- Candidate's annual family income must be less than Rs. 8 lakhs per annum.
- His family must not own more than 5 acres of agricultural land.
- The residential flat area must be less than 1000 sq. feet.
Candidates falling under this quota will get the benefit of 10% reservation,but there won't be any relaxations with respect to age-limit or the number of attempts.
