When applying for BA (Hons) English, there is either an entrance test or a cut off list basis your 12th grade marks.

For early admission however, many universities consider having an aptitude/entrance test which might include your ability to comprehend, vocabulary etc.

At IILM University for instance the aptitude test is usually followed by an interview as well.

Do check the websites of the colleges you wish to apply to.

The entrance exam of BA would have the basic concepts of Grammar like parts of speech, synonyms, antonyms, vocabulary, reading comprehension and the basic literature of your XIIth standard.

The syllabus for the entrance exams and the paper pattern for the same are given on the websites of universities like LPU.

You can check and it would be similar every where.

But you need to check for a college with care like LPU gives good academics and scholarships and Lady Sri Ram too gives standard education

Dipshika, each Entrance exam has different syllabus. But in General, you have to concentrate on Vocabulary, comprehension, grammar, completion of sentences, synonyms, antonyms, fill in the blanks, prepositions, Writing ability, etc. You need to prepare on Phrases and Idioms, One word Substitution, Sentence correction, Error spotting, Active and Passive voice, Sentence rearrangement and Sentence improvement, etc.
