Architecture is one of the best fields of engineering. In architecture, you do design, plan, and construct houses, building, and superstructures. Not just that for city planning or even for planning a small park, an architect is needed. Hence, in one or the other aspect of construction, architecture is bound to be present and there are many-many great job options available in this field.

1. Architects- An architect is a person who plans, designs and analyzes the buildings. From the initial start to the end of construction, an architect is needed. You could get into this field with your B.Arch or you could go for the Masters to gain expertise in your field. An architect could be any of these, or more, based on his/her qualifications and experience:

2. Planners- Another field that goes hand in hand with Architecture is Planning. That is why admission to both the courses have the same procedure. But planning as a field is different. In this you analyze the area and plan how space should be used, what should come after this etc. there are various kinds of planning jobs such as

• Project Planner

3. Building contractor- Contractor is the one who supervises the projects on the site of construction.

4. Interior architects/Interior designers- An interior architect or designer designs the interior of buildings like space usage, furnishing etc.

5. Manager, consultant, and analyst- other than the core job of designing and planning, you can do the basic corporate jobs such as Managers, Consultants, and Analysts in various architectural firms too.

The work of construction is always a need in every sector and hence an architect is needed in these such as

• Archaeological Department

• National Building Organization

• Ministry of Defense

• Departments of Railways

• Housing and Urban Development Corporation

As you can see there are many recruiters who can hire an architect . It depends on the college name, your percentage and other criterions based on which you get a job. You can also go abroad for work. But if entrepreneurship is what you are into, then go for it.

How to open your own architectural firm?

Right after graduation, you can open your own firm but it would be better for you if you get a masters or perhaps some experience before doing that. For opening a firm, you require a great team, networks, licenses, and registrations so basically all the big work. Hence, opt for opening your own architectural firm if you think entrepreneurship is your calling.
