The basic difference between between B.Tech and Polytechnic engineering courses is that a B.Tech is adegree course while a Polytechnic is adiploma course in engineering. Diploma course can be done after class 10th and degree course can be done after class 12 th or it's equivalent . Diploma is tree year course after 10th and b tech is 4years course after 12th .

An engineering degree will be awarded to you after 4 years of study in a specialized branch like Computer science, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil and so on. Engineering degrees in India are generally B.E or B.Tech. The degree is the next step after class 12 for interested and eligible students. The engineering diploma is the course of three years done after class 10. For e.g technicians in most manufacturing as well as production units and such are diploma holders .They can obtain a degree in engineering through lateral entry which means that they join the 2nd year of engineering. An engineering certificate is just a short term course and is mostly offered in specializations.



Undoubtedly a B.Tech is better than a mere degree.
In a degree study, you are taught only the concepts, but not its applications and the applicability of the concepts.
However, in B Tech, you are taught the applicability of the concepts along with the concepts of various scientific phenomenon.
Hence, B Tech is preferred over a simple degree.

DIPLOMA

Diploma in a layman language is a short term course generally up to 2 yrs which mainly focus on training a person in a particular field.They are one of the quick and best way to get a job as their course is more practical oriented. The importance of diploma as compared to degree is relatively less.

Degree on the other hand, is a long term course which varies between 3–4 years for bachelor’s, 2 years beyond bachelor for master degree, depending on the course.Degree provide more in depth knowledge about a particular course then diploma.
