what if the gender preference is selected as Male by mistake? can we change it female after form has been already submitted?? please suggest

You have not mentioned what particular exam you applied for; but you can most certainly change your gender preferably from male to female; during the correction window. You'll be allowed to change any mistake you've made during the form fill up to be rectified. As you haven't mentioned what exam so I can't suggest the date when the correction window will arrive.

But keep looking for it through the Google when the correction window is going to start, if you miss out on the correction window, then you'll be facing some real troubles.

So, yes you can change your mistake while filling up the gender; but for a certain period of time during the correction window.
