Common Admission Test or CAT is the national level management entrance exam conducted by Indian Institute of Management for admission to 20 IIMs and more than 100 B-schools across India. Around 2 lakh MBA aspirants take the test every year.
CAT 2017 scores will not only be accepted by the 20 IIMs in India, but over 100 B-schools across the country. Around 4,000 seats are offered through the 20 IIMs.

CAT or Common Admission Test is conducted by IIMs for the admission to their flagship post graduate management programs. Apart from the 20 IIMs, around 100 B-schools of public and private ownership accept CAT scores.
CAT is a computer based test of 3 hours duration. There are 3 sections, Verbal and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Ability. The number of questions in these 3 sections are 34, 32 and 34 respectively totalling to 100. The questions are objective type carrying multiple choices. However, there are some questions which do not have multiple choices and test takers have to write the answer directly using virtual keyboard.
Each question carries 4 marks and there is negative marking scheme of 1 mark for each wrong answer. Non-MCQs do not have negative marking scheme.
CAT is taken by around 2 lakh candidates every year which makes it one of the most competitive management entrance exams.
