what is deemed medical college ?

Medical deemed university means a medical institution attains the status of university by UGC in area of medical sciences as specialisation on recommendation of Medical Council of India to award degrees and diplomas in medicine.

An institute will attain the status of a deemed university (say medical education) when it gets permission from University Grant Commission on recommendation by a statutory council (which is MCI for medical education).
Until recently, deemed colleges used to conduct their own entrance examinations.
