what is DNS? what is nortical science??

1-year Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) is a pre-sea training course approved by Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) and affiliated to Indian Maritime University (IMU). Upon successful completion of the course, cadets are awarded with pre-sea completion certificate and qualified to join a ship as a deck cadet.

If you do dns then you will get 1 yrs diploma certificate. Which leading to B's.c nautical as a distance learning program. This degree will not regular degree. When you do dns course you have two semester 6 month each. And after completion of these semester, you have to join the ship as a trainee deck Cadet, training period will be 18 month which includes you 3,4,5 semester. Once you complete your training period on board ship. You have to do modular advance courses as well as 4 month competency course for frogien going ship. Once you done all of this, then you HAVE to appear for 6 written exams and 3 orals which will be conduct by dg shipping of india. Once you pass then you will get certificate of competency which helps you join a ship as a second mate. Along with this you have to give 3 written exam which will conduct by University under which in order to get bs.c degree certificate. Fees of this course max 2.5- 4.5 lac rupees, depends upon institute to institute.

Now let's talk about bs.c in nautical science which is 3 year degree course. On the completion of this course you will get regular degree unlike dns. But after completion of this course you have to go on ship for 12 months as trainee deck cadet. Once you complete your training period. Then you have appear for 3 oral examination which is also conduct by director general of shipping . If all goes well then you will get certificate of competency and which makes you eligible for joining ship as a 2nd officer. Max Fees of this course is 10 to 15 lacs rupees.
