Basic Eligibility

1. Educational Qualification:

Passed 10+2 (any stream) from a recognized board (CBSE, ICSE, State Boards)

Minimum marks: Usually 50% aggregate (varies by college)

2. Stream:

All streams eligible (Science, Commerce, Arts)

No mandatory subjects, but creativity and aptitude are key

3. Age Limit:

Most institutes allow applicants up to 23 years old

Reserved categories may have 3–5 years of relaxation

Note: UCEED requires PCM in 12th. Other design schools usually accept all streams.

Admission to the Bachelor of Design program is determined by entrance exam methods as well as merit.  The abbreviation B.Des stands for Bachelor of Design, an undergraduate degree program that offers specializations in textile design, fashion design, interior design, accessory design, and many other areas.  Typically, the BDes program lasts four years.
If you completed high school from an accredited educational board, were admitted directly to a college, or underwent several entrance exams and counseling after graduation, you are qualified to enroll in a BDes course.

You must have passed Class 12 (10+2) from any recognized board like CBSE, ICSE, or State board.
Your stream in Class 12 can be any stream – Science, Commerce, or Arts.
Most colleges require at least 50% marks in Class 12.
Some top design colleges also ask you to qualify in design entrance exams like NID DAT, UCEED, NIFT, or college-specific exams.

There is no restriction on age in many private colleges, but some national-level institutes may have an upper age limit of around 24 years for general category students.

You can apply for B.Des if you are creative, interested in design, and meet the marks and entrance exam requirements.
