Interstitial hydrides are formed when Hydrogen atoms combined with (occupied the interstitial spaces) with transitional elements. Ex: Palladium absorbs Hydrogen and forms Palladium hydride.
Interstitial hydrides are called as non-stoichiometric compounds also.
