What is JEE Main? Can I do Engineering without it?

Jeemain is engineering exam required for NITs /IIITs /GFTIs and is also accepted by private engineering colleges.

However its not mandatory to appear Jeemain for engineering.
Students can appear for various state level exams as well to pursue engineering from private colleges.

Some exams ljke TNEA, COMEDK, MHTCET, KCET, WBJEE, GUJCET, etc are most recommended.
