Dear aspirant....!!

The average package in a NIT depends on the branch and the college you are studying in. Though, there might not be wide disparities based on the tier of NIT you are studying in, branch do play an important role. The difference in the packages offered here is colossal.

I may talk of NIT Bhopal, the scenario is more or less the same in all NITs.

For CSE branch- avg package offered is around 10L. There were many software companies like Adobe, Amazon, Microsoft which provide in 20–30 L ( i am not sure of the that, so i won’t be elaborating about the package offered by software companies)

For core branch, ( ee, ce, me) - The average package offered is 5–5.5L. I am talking of the companies which provide jobs in core sector, mainly maintenance job. I will mention the companies along with the package offered,

L&T, Vedanta, KEC, ABB, Saint Gobalin- around 4–5 L

Reliance, Mahindra ,Honda, Tata Motors, - around 6 L

Suzuki- around 7–8L

Exl Analytics, Capgemini and other consultancies also offered in the range of 6 L. Candidates of all branch were eligible to ait for the placement process in these companies.

Also there were mass recruiters like TCS, IBM who offered 3.5L

PSUs like IOCL, HPCL, BPCL offered 10–13L but they come generally for category students.

Also, there were quite a handful of students who remained unplaced despite meeting all the eligible criterias.

I hope that pretty much sumarised the placement trend in NIT. Depending on the tier level of your NIT, there might be a difference of 1–1.5L atmost in the average package offered.
