What is minimum AIR to get selected in IIT ?
BTECH Chemical Engineering & Computer Programming, Indian I
Basically good IIT definition depends on you.
Well from my side, older IITs namely IIT Kharagpur (That's Mine :P), IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee, IIT Madras and IIT Guwahati are generally considered as good IITs.
For getting into any of these 7 IITS, with a decent branch such as "CS, EE, ECE(Only in IIT KGP), Mech, and others too." you need a minimum marks200 out of 360.
This will give you a general rank under2500which can help you get in those 7 IITs.
Don't be so sure about the marks because last year even with 250 marks out of 504, my friends are in Mech, IIT Kharagpur.
So, I would only say aim for the rank to be below2000.
There are another kind of analysis given below. It is my thought.
Here is the list based on my past experience. Please note that required marks can increase or decrease based on difficulty level of paper
Assuming paper of marks?
AIR 1 : ?AIR 20: 300AIR 200: 260AIR 500: 240AIR 2000: 200AIR 10000: 150
Rank required for different colleges is available here
Opening and Closing Rank
Here is typical branch available to students at various ranks based on my experience.
CS at IITB: AIR 50CS at any old IIT - AIR 200Electrical or Mechanical at old IITs 2000CS at any IIT: AIR 5000Electrical or mechanical at any IIT: AIR 7000Anything at old IIT: AIR 7000Anything at any IIT: AIR 9000
Normally those with ranks below 9000 go for NITs.
Right now focus should be on scoring maximum possible marks in JEE. It is best to not to worry about branch at this stage.
ALL THE BEST
