Hello!!
Large number of microorganisms could not tolerate the oxygen hence they died,it is called oxygen holocust.
Oxygen is the first environmental pollutant that killed large number of microorganism.
Before oxygen our environment was reducing but wen blue green algae released oxygen on the environment it became oxydising
