To become an Astrophysicist, it is desirable for a student to acquire proficiency in physics and mathematics at the graduate level and then to Astronomy and astrophysics specialization.
An engineer with a B.Tech or BE degree, with an aptitude for Astronomy and Astrophysics, csn also enter the field as a research scholar.
You will need four to six years just for a bachelor's degree. Then comes graduate school, which can take anywhere from five years for theorists up to seven or eight for experimentalists and observers.
