There is no percentile system in internal exam in IITs neither in its entrance exam, jee advanced. Percentile system is introduced by NTA for jee mains only. The percentile refers that you have performed better than that percent of students who took the exam. For example of 100 student in exam if you got 90 percentile than it means you have performed better than 89 students and your rank is 10.
