Hi,

The face value of a digit in a number is the value of the digit itself, irrespective of its position.

For example, in the number 452, the face value of 5 is 5.

The place value of a digit depends on its position in the number. It is obtained by multiplying the digit by the value of its place.

For example, in the number 452, the place value of 5 is 50 (5 × 10).

Thus, face value remains the same, while place value changes with position.
