Hii there, now a days more recruiters are focussed at post graduates rather than graduates for specific sector in research and development. Companies like Tata motors, Mercedes, LnT, etc. come. There are higher chances of placement in mechanical design sector rather than production or thermal department. Almost 100% get placed. Average is 9-15lpa ctc until your cgpa gets disturbed. So focus on your studies and many companies, almost equal to students in your batch would visit and offer a good package.
