These are few benefits to a candidate.

I will just write a few points from the candidate perspective :
- If you clear CAT (get a high percentile), you have a good chance of getting into one of the IIMs which will give a boost to your resume and help you get placed in good management roles in the future (I think you already knew that).
- If you get a high percentile, you have demonstrated that you have well rounded skills in written communication and logical thinking which will be attractive to a recruiter even if you do not go to the IIMs.
- You would have improved your quant skills which are useful in general in life. So is good English.
These are few benefits to a candidate.

By students who want to do MBA
Mostly college in India either take there own
Test or accept cat score.
