What is the best career option along with CA ?
Dear Kartik,
As your are going to be a Chartered Accountant soon, your decision to do short-term courses in related fields like Financial Planning, Taxation, Insurance, investment Advisory or e-commerce is a good idea.
However, I am afraid some of the courses in these fields are offered as distance learning or with weekend classes. Apex organisations offering these courses have associate partners who deliver the same in regular mode. See these options, and you can choose according to your inclination.
Financial Planning: More than 30 institutions recognised by the Financial Planning Standards Board of India (www.fpsbindia.org) offer CFP Certification.
Taxation: Univeristy of Rajashtan offers a Diploma in Tax Practice whille Univeristy of Mysore offers a specialisation in Tax Management.
Insurance: Christ University, Bangalore offers certificate courses in Capital Market, Fundamental and Technical Analysis in partnership with Stock Market Institute.
Savitribai Phule Pune University 1-year PG Diploma in the following: Company Secretaryship, Taxation, Banking, Accountancy, Internatonal Business.
The Univeristy also offers Certificate Course in e-Commerce
Have you thought of doing Company Secretaryship from Institute of Comapny Secretaries of India (ICSI)? ICSI also offers Certificate courses like Certificate Course in GST; Certified Banking Compliance Professional Course; Certificate Course in Valuation; Diploma in Internal Audit.
Hope you find this useful. My advise is that you have to be a bit more flexible in your approach as there are other courses that will help you immensely if you can go for self-study mode like Acturarial Science. You can check up the website of Institute of Actuaries of India (www.acturariesindia.org) and take up a course in Actuarial Sciene, offered in different modules. Affiliate institutes do offer regular classes as well.
Best of luck on your journey as a number cruncher in the corporate world!
