Both the exams patters are very different and depend on the students what they thunk about the paper.
KVPY aptitude test is lower than JEE Mains. Whereas the the maths of KVPY is way more tougher than JEE mains. You can crack KVPY by following NCERT books but on the other hand JEE Mains require somewhat higher level of preparation than NCERT.
One more thing is that Kvpy has an interview round also.
KVPY and JEE test the candidates knowledge on different levels.Only students having a strong base can answer these questions.
The selection rate of KVPY is 1.8% only. KVPY is meant for testing an individuals basics and research aptitude while JEE Main requires more bookish knowledge and formula application skill.
