As per new rules under the admissions in the NRI quota in colleges of Gujarat, students applying in the category are expected to have completed their class 12 from a school in the state. An official disclosed this decision to the Admission Committee for Professional and Medical Education Courses.

• The state government took a recent decision to scrap 15 per cent NRI seats for private medical schools

• There is no NRI quota in state government colleges

• The fee charged by NRI quota are extremely soaring, that too in foreign currency

• NRI quota seats will now be merged with management quota seats, raising the management quota seats percentage to 25

• Management quota seats will be available only for the local students, though

• The NRI students will also have to appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance test (NEET) for admissions in medical colleges
