Fine soil means whose individual particles are not visible by naked eye. It divided into two parts- clay and slit. The particle size of slit is of 75 to 2 micron diameter and the particles with diameter less than 2 micron is called as Clay.
Some of the characteristics of Fine Soil are-
It has good-load bearing qualities when dry. Slits are cohensionless while clays are cohessive. Compacted fine grained soils are used for embankments, clay liners etc.
