If the selection in NITs or IITs on the basis of JEE main or JEE adv. Mark only then what is the purpose of minimum 75% marks obtaining .

There are limited number of seats and the aspirant who want those seats outnumber the seats available. So JEE Main helps solve this problem and there are 3 main purposes that itcaters to:

1. It acts as a qualifying exam. It helps to select eligible students for JEE Advanced and take admission in IITs.

2. It helps to rank students so that students get NITs or other colleges based on their performance.

3. It avoids the need for an different entrance exam for admission into every College. A number of colleges use JEE Main ranks and scores to select candidates and do not take entrance exam of their own.
