Hello Sukanya Bala,
First let’s check JEE Mains the basis of NIT admissions for INDIAN RESIDENT students.
Please note that JEE Mains does not mention any CUT OFF. All students who appear in JEE main can apply for admissions under JOSAA.
The cutoff for NORTH EAST states for CSE was NINE LAKHS RANK ( Home State). Visit JOSAA website and check.
Now coming to DASA:
SAT cut off of 1800 is unfair to students. More than 50% of DASA seats are unfilled and many students are joining private colleges paying same or more than $8000 per year fees.
As a parent I have taken up this issue with DASA CORE Committe.
Further DASA selection criteria is unfair to :
B. Arch students. : why they should check SAT score of physics and chemistry. Indian resident students are measured on JEE Mains paper-2 and that’s Maths and drawing aptitude. So only SAT maths should be used for B. Arch seats.
They did not apply GIRLS quota under DASA. From this year IIT and NITs have started GIRLS quota.
I have taken up the above issues with MHRD.
Now coming to the question of SAT :
SAT papers are not available unlike JEE mains old papers. So let’s not judge. For TOPPERS that may be easy but let’s take into account all type of students.
2. SAT is speed based and it’s somewhat similar to BITSAT.
My request to parents / students of DASA 2019 is to take up the above issue with MHRD well in advance and Ensure that all DASA seats are filled.
There should be no SAT cut off inline with JEE Mains NO Cutoff. All who has valid SAT score should be eligible to apply and let the competition decide…the cutoffs.
.
Hope this helps...
Thank you and all the best...
