The college is an autonomous private engineering college which was established in 1962 and affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University.

*In order to take admission into MSRIT UG level courses, an applicant should have passed 12th with at least 50% from a recognized board and selection depends on the score of the entrance test as per the course.
