What is the safest score in percentage for a general category student to get a seat in IIT..?

It is very difficult to get a seat in the IIT's especially the top ones which include Mumbai, Delhi , Chennai etc.
Also the percentage depends upon the branch you want to go for
But all in all for a general category student your AIR rank according to your percentage should be below 2000
